We all love to make New Year’s Resolutions. It’s a great New Year’s thing to do. And our resolutions are usually really good. And yet, by the time we get into the second week of the new year, our resolve usually starts to wane. And that is not good. What we need is some way to rejuvenate those New Year’s resolutions. And what better way to renew those goals than to listen to those who know about when change begins. And where does change begin? It begins in us.

Here are ten great quotes about us, about change, and about the time to decide to grow and to be the person God has called you to be. Enjoy!

  1. “The most important thing to remember is this: To be ready at any moment to give up what you are for what you might become.” — W.E.B. Du Bois
  2. “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” —George Eliot
  3. “There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.” – Aldous Huxley
  4. “The only journey is the one within.” — Rainer Maria Rilke
  5. “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” — Carl R. Rogers
  6. “To change the world takes time; to change yourself takes courage.” — R.S. Lowell
  7. “There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” – Ernest Hemingway
  8. “The question is not, ‘To be or not to be,’ it is what we should be until we are not.” – Søren Kierkegaard
  9. “We can’t become what we need to be by remaining what we are.” – Oprah Winfrey
  10. “Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.”Malcolm S. Forbes

Paul wrote in Ephesians 5:15-16, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Now, go out reenergized to make the most of those new year opportunities to grow, to bless and to be all that God has called you to be and to do in this new year.
